#nycspeaks2022 Share your ideas for bold actions the Mayor should take
As you know, the cost of living keeps increasing and city workers are not receiving their yearly raises. Currently, the city hospital employees has not received a raise in 3-4 years now and with the cost of living continuing to rise. City Workers have and continue to endure during the pandemic, to provide quality service, while trying to remain safe. I just ask that all City Employees receive yearly raises.

Yes, we need a salary increase every year in order to keep up with the cost of living just like private sector. And provide hazard pay to all healthcare workers not just doctors and nurses. We were also at work during the pandemic and deserve these raises.
All city workers need fair pay practices. Its ridiculous how the exe and chair people salaries are so tremendous and they stayed home during and some still are during this crisis.
City workers should get salary increases every year on top of cost of living increases. We selflessly provided service to all New Yorkers during the pandemic and the increases are long overdue.
Yes, living in NYC is very expensive and food and rent continue to increase. As city employees, we should not have to choose between paying rent or eating healthy. Also, the high cost of living has in the past rendered city workers and their families homeless causing them to turn to city shelters and contributing to the never ending cycle of homelessness.
I appreciate all the endorsements and comments. Please share and ask you colleagues to come to this site to make comments and endorse this post. Also, if they have any issues that would like to be addressed by the Mayor to definitely create a proposal.

I do agree with you but I think the purpose of this survey was to "fix city problems", not what city employees want. Look at the 5 criteria.
Good Afternoon Abul, thank you for your comment. I understand the purpose of the survey and the 5 criteria. The only way for the problem to be fixed is the elected officials to start providing yearly raises to city workers. The purpose of this is to express the concerns and struggles that city workers face on a daily basis and I speak as a hospital employee, who haven't received a raise in 3-4 years now. As you see by the other comments, it's not about what we want, it's about what we should be provided. City Workers work effortlessly to make sure the city is running right daily and to ask to be compensated yearly is not wrong. Elective officials holds that key and it's about helping them understand that we matter as well.
The idea that a large percentage of city workers cannot afford to rent or buy in the same city is a problem. The fact that some of these city workers are homeless, living out of cars, living in sub standard conditions because rent is more than half their paycheck is a problem. The fact that they think a parade for essential workers as a consolation prize is enough thanks for all their hard work instead of a raise is a problem. The fact that we are unfairly taxed and money taken away from our paychecks could go towards the metrocard to get us to work is a problem. A city problem.
salary should be increase to match the cost of living. Most of the city workers get low salary comparing to the private sectors. unequality is unbearable but sorry to say that women still get low salary comparing the men, even in the city. Please fix this and all the city workers should get pay increase every year.

We have not gotten a raise in over two years. They want you to put your life on the line for a city that does not want you to be able to afford to live in it. The five percent preference quota for the affordable housing lottery is a joke. The affordable rents are a joke. Why does someone who makes more than $75000 in this city need affordable housing? There are so many city workers who make less than $50 000 who are not included in these lotteries. They are catering to the privileged while the working classes are supposed to trudge on and accept the pathetic parade they have in their honor. As if this is supposed to make our lives better.

IT GET HARDER AND HARDER FOR CITY WORKERS TO MAKE ENDS MEET. I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT WHEN THE COST OF LIVING WENT UP, AREN'T OUR SLARIES SUPPOSED TO MOVE UP TOO? IT ISN'T FAIR THAT WE HAVE TO SUPPLEMENT OUR INCOMES WITH A 2ND OR 3RD JOB JUST TO LIVE HERE.
