Project Name: Improve Street Lighting on 7th & 8th Avenues
Please write in the name of your project. Please be descriptive and straightforward; this will help us identify your project.
Description:
Be as specific as possible and include quantities when applicable (e.g. 5 security cameras, 10 laptop carts).
Install additional Street Lighting along 7th & 8th Avenues.
Current corner street lighting is simply insubstantial to light our sidewalks mid-block, especially over the long period of Daylight Saving Time. Additional Street Lights should be installed mid-block along the darkest corridors.
Either that, or replace current street lamp bulbs with bulbs that have more of a “flood light” effect.
DOT began installing energy-efficient bulbs at some point. These bulbs while perhaps “energy-efficient” cast a dull yellowish haze and are simply inadequate in casting enough light, making corners and streets dark, shadowy and potentially dangerous to traverse at night.
Need:
Please describe why this project is important and who it will serve primarily
Improved Street Lighting serves our entire community, from local residents who walk their dogs at night, to delivery personnel and seniors who currently feel uncomfortable venturing out evenings.
