Create a garden area in Gertrude B. Kelly Park in Manhattan
Description:
Be as specific as possible and include quantities when applicable (e.g. 5 security cameras, 10 laptop carts).
Purchase and install a 6-foot metal fence on the east wall of Gertrude Kelly Park adjacent to a residential building. Install a gate for a few gardeners to be able to garden in that area of the Park. A water source is already available to water trees and plants.
Need:
Please describe why this project is important and who it will serve primarily
This Park is heavily used by students in schools located nearby. The proposed area is currently used as a place for individuals to let their dogs roam and release themselves, which is not healthy for the children using the Park. This area has become infested with rodents as a result of this activity. The way to improve the Park and to keep its users healthy, is to create an area for gardening, which will be handled by volunteers who live on the street where the Park is located.
