Project Name: Separate Trash Receptacles to make Tossing Trash Sustainable and Fun!
Please write in the name of your project. Please be descriptive and straightforward; this will help us identify your project.
Description: Allow for all public trash cans to be placed in sets of three,(1) for traditional trash, (1) for recycling (1) for Composting. Allow for trash bins to be opened with the step of a foot. There will be no need to worry about touching a dirty trash receptacle and this will make recycling and composting, easy + fun!
Similar to this program in Lower Manhattan: https://downtownny.com/compost/, but make it more accessible, without requiring users to open with a mobile device.
Be as specific as possible and include quantities when applicable (e.g. 5 security cameras, 10 laptop carts).
Need: Right now there are few trash cans for just one type of trash. It is difficult to dispose of recyclable and compostable waste on the go. By making recycling compostable plentiful and visible, we can easily invite others to make separating their trash a fun habit! Further limited trash receptacles are either completely open containers that do not contain waste, or they are open lidded and prone to vandalism. Making them easy to open with the press of a foot can make disposing of trash fun!
Please describe why this project is important and who it will serve primarily
