Student Bathroom Renovations at P.S. 108Q-The Captain Vincent G. Fowler School
Student Bathroom Renovations on the 3rd, 4th and 5th Floors at P.S. 108Q-The Captain Vincent G. Fowler School
There are a total of 6 student bathrooms from the 3rd floor to the 5th floor.
P.S. 108Q is ‘home’ to approximately 1,300 students. For 10 months of the year, our students have to use these facilities that are in a deplorable state. As I cannot submit pictures I will attempt to paint a picture with words that will hopefully do justice to what our children are subjected to whenever they have to use the bathroom while at school. The bathrooms are old and small in size even for children. Some stalls do not have doors, other stalls have locks on the doors that do not work. This leads to privacy and anxiety issues as the children cannot use the bathroom comfortably without having to worry about the door swinging open on them. Bathroom doors have huge surface areas where the paint is chipping away. The lighting is poor which poses a safety hazard for our kids. Many fixtures are rusted and chipped. We have stained walls and floors with broken tiles. In summary, these are the types of bathrooms that we as adults find offensive to use so how can we expect our children to use them?

For years now our children have had to make do with these facilities in the condition they are in because it is all they have. Not going when you have to is not an option. However, when children choose to ‘hold it’ accidents occur which leads to embarrassment and insecurities for them.
This is a worthy cause and one that will be appreciated by many students for many years to come.
It is not an everyday occurrence for people to see these student bathrooms outside of the students themselves and school staff. In my opinion, if parents had an inkling of the deplorable condition of the bathrooms their children have at their disposal they would be campaigning for renovations. They would become the voice of their children.
Please support our cause. It will be a huge accomplishment for our children but an even greater step for children in other schools that have a similar issue. If our voice is heard then their voices will be heard as well.
Bathrooms should be like any other part of your home. In this 21st Century we need to develop and modernize these spaces for the comfort of our children. It is of utmost important that attention to this area is also addressed. Learning starts from there as well.
School is a home away from home. For years the bathrooms at PS 108 has been out dated and I think we need modernize the bathrooms. It is important to have clean and secure restroom facilities for the students.
I've had two kids at PS108 and both of them come home telling me about the outdated bathrooms in the old wings of PS108. They have complained about not being able to use the restroom because of privacy issues, they say it's dirty and often flooded or unusable. Multiple times they came home and said they bathrooms on floors 3 or 5 were completely unusable. These renovations are long overdue. I am one of the few parents who have seen the staff bathrooms and was shocked by the condition of them. The staff and students deserve far better.
Our student bathrooms are in need of a major renovation. Our school is an old building and students are constantly reporting issues about the bathroom. I am asking that our bathrooms be given a major renovation.
As a parent, I believe ours is a wonderful school community but the building is old, definitely needs improvements and the bathrooms are in dire and desperate need of renovations.
There are almost 1,300 students and all these children deserve clean, updated bathrooms.
They deserve privacy and to be comfortable.
They need to feel safe in every single part of the school.
It has been stated before but I will say it again, this is far overdue and our kids and staff, they all deserve better.
PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL! THANK YOU!
This is such a necessity for the children and staff. The children should have the privacy and cleanliness they deserve. Thank you for bringing back this issue to everyone’s attention this is very important for our kids and all that follow.
Please support this project. PS 108 is an amazing school full of caring staff and teachers, and brilliant, kind students. Especially during a pandemic, when sanitary conditions are more important than ever, they all deserve a safe, clean and welcoming environment in the bathrooms, ensuring adequate hygiene and privacy. The state of the bathrooms is such that no adult would want to use them. It's terrible that our children have no other option. I can think of no better use of funds than to ensure the safety and comfort of our precious students. Please support this vital project.
Good Morning, I am endorsing Mrs. Khan’s proposal for the renovation P.S. 108Q students’ restrooms. I am requesting
that you extremely consider our request for this renovation.
Anyone who visits P.S. 108Q, can visibly see that it is beautifully kept. Our school is one
of the older schools in our district. It is in dire need of renovation of the Students Restrooms.
While the custodial staff does their utmost in keeping the restrooms clean and sanitized, it
becomes very difficult, when there are broken tiles, piling paint, missing doors and constant repair of leaking toilets and sinks. This makes it unsanitary and hazardous for our students. Our students deserve to be able to use the restrooms with comfort and in privacy.
In a time, such as these, we need to ensure that the facilities our students use are safe, private and
We, the parents, as well as a community, are the voice of our students. Therefore, we are requesting
that you give this proposal careful and much needed
