The NYC Civic Engagement Commission is committed to strengthening the capacity of local community-building efforts and encourage broad resident participation in the Citywide Participatory Budgeting program. Hence, in the summer of 2022, we invited applicants to participate in a Request for Information (RFI) to lead and facilitate Idea Generation Sessions across the city from September through November of 2022.
We received 229 unique applications from partners such as, community based organizations, civic associations, faith-based communities, tenant associations, community boards, libraries, schools, and M/WBEs. Through a rigorous evaluation process, we selected 82 diverse community partners, who will help us kick-off this exciting initiative by hosting, facilitating, engaging, and welcoming New Yorkers into Idea Generation Sessions.
The 82 partners all have different focuses when it comes to geography or demographic coverage. Our TRIE Neighborhood Partners will be engaging residents of TRIE Neighborhoods (Taskforce for Racial Inclusion and Equity). Our Demographic Partners will be engaging high priority populations across the city such as Older Adults, Youth, Immigrants and Limited English Proficiency Individuals, People with Disabilities, Veterans, Public Housing Residents, Justice-Impacted Individuals, and LGBTQIA+ identifying individuals. Our Borough Partners will be engaging residents across an entire borough. Finally, our Neighborhood Partners will be engaging residents of the neighborhood of their choosing.
All of the Idea Generation Sessions hosted by our partners are public events and will be posted on our events calendar as they are scheduled. See all the partner organizations below:
